Metabolites Identification Services

Metabolites identification, a multifaceted analytical process that aims at positively or putatively identifying small molecule chemicals in biological mixtures. One of the central challenges of metabolomics is metabolites identification. Regardless of whether one uses so-called "targeted" or "untargeted" metabolomics, eventually all paths lead to the requirement of metabolites identification. Indeed, without metabolites identification, the results of any metabolomic analysis are biologically and chemically uninterpretable[1]. Alfa Chemistry has a team of highly skilled Ph.D. and M.S. biochemists with rich research and development experience as well as professional metabolites knowledge. At the same time, Alfa Chemistry has the world’s leading laboratories and advanced instruments for metabolites identification. We have the ability to provide customers with professional metabolites identification services.

Our Service Scope

Our Service Scope

Alfa Chemistry mainly provides identification services for the following metabolites:

  • Plant metabolites, including plant primary metabolites and plant secondary metabolites.
  • Microbial metabolites, including microbial primary metabolites and microbial secondary metabolites.
  • Drugs metabolites, including traditional Chinese drugs metabolites and western drugs metabolites.

Our Technical Platforms

Alfa Chemistry specializes in metabolites identification that utilize nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (MS) technical platforms to identify metabolites.

Our Technical Platforms

As an technical platform, NMR is non-destructive, nonbiased, easily quantifiable, requires little or no separation, permits the identification of novel compounds and needs no chemical derivatization. NMR is particularly suitable for the detection of compounds that are less easily processed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), such as sugars, amines or volatile liquids.

MS offers the potential for identification and quantification of metabolites. Due to the high sensitivity, resolution, accuracy, speed, and reliability, MS is particularly suitable for identifying small-molecule metabolites.

Our Software Tools

Metabolites identification by NMR typically involves spectral deconvolution using a set of reference NMR spectra. This can be done using a variety of commercial and freeware products. In addition to freeware products, Alfa Chemistry has introduced several new software tools for NMR-based metabolites identification, including rNMR and the collaborative computing project for NMR metabolomics project. In addition, Alfa Chemistry has got a number of commercial software tools to help with MS spectral deconvolution and MS spectral matching, including AnalyzerPro and Mass Frontier. In order to identify metabolites accurately, Alfa Chemistry has purchased many NMR and MS databases. If you need help, please contact us.
